6 September 2024, Mandaluyong City, Philippines – Emerson Manila, a global technology and software company providing innovative solutions for the world’s essential industries, has joined the Philippine Business Coalition for Women Empowerment (PBCWE) to tap the Coalition’s expertise in strengthening its Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) workplace culture.
Since starting its operation in the Philippines in 1994 to play a strategic role in providing regional expertise, support, training and services for its customers and nurture a transformative workplace culture for its local employees, Emerson Manila has been a staunch advocate for DEI establishing a number of employee resource groups (ERGs) including 1.) Pride, which empowers employees in the LGBTQIA+ community and their allies; and 2.) Women’s Impact Network, a 5,000-member group providing support and networking opportunities for female employees in more than 85 chapters worldwide.
On July 22, PhilWEN Founding Chairperson and President and PBCWE Governing Council Chairperson Ma. Aurora “Boots” Geotina-Garcia officially welcomed Emerson Philippines as the 42nd PBCWE member company and remarked that “The presence of global companies in the Philippines such as Emerson and the role it plays in fostering an inclusive and equitable workplace culture is needed so other companies in the country will follow suit, especially in industries like technology where it is traditionally male-dominated. At PBCWE, we champion women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) as we believe that they can also succeed in these areas deemed as the future of work. In fact, we published a baseline study to examine the gender dimensions of the STEM economy, identify gaps, and make recommendations to STEM industries to address specific challenges.”
Using HR data in evaluating policies and programs to further improve and recommend best practices on Workplace Gender Equality (WGE) and DEI, Emerson will be undertaking the Gender Equality Assessment, Results, and Strategies (GEARS), an assessment tool developed by Investing in Women, an initiative of the Australian government. Designed for the ASEAN market, GEARS provides insights and actionable recommendations and offers a guide for investing with a gender lens to increase capital deployment towards women-led and gender-forward businesses in region. With ever-evolving workplace landscape, Emerson Philippines General Manager said that “While we have strong DEI footprints already in the company, partnering with like-minded organizations with functional DEI expertise such as PBCWE shows our strong commitment to adapt to the changing DEI trends and practices essential as we continuously improving our existing DEI policies and programs in place.” Joining PBCWE, Emerson Philippines becomes part of large and industry-leading business in collective pursuit in advancing workplace DEI locally, regionally, and globally.
