23 July 2024, Makati City, Philippines – ING Hubs Philippines (ING Hubs PH) partners with the Philippine Business Coalition for Women Empowerment (PBCWE) to build a more diverse and inclusive workplace culture. The company delivers services to businesses for both wholesale and retail banking globally and is a subsidiary of the Dutch multinational company, ING Group. In partnering with PBCWE, ING Hubs PH joins other companies in the Philippines in making significant strides to champion Workplace Gender Equality (WGE), Women’s Economic Empowerment (WEE), and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI).
“As we strive to include more women in the discussion at ING, partnering with PBCWE is another step for us to level up efforts in strengthening women’s presence in the shared and financial services sectors. Through PBCWE, I am confident that we can learn best practices for engaging more women with Lioness, the diverse community that we formed to foster collaboration among women and allies, working together to achieve gender equality within and beyond ING offices worldwide,” said Marie Antonette Valenzuela, ING Hubs PH Head of Human Resources and Lioness PH Management Team Sponsor.
As part of its PBCWE membership, ING Hubs PH will be undertaking Gender Equality Assessment, Results, and Strategies (GEARS), an assessment tool designed by Investing in Women, an initiative of the Australian government. GEARS is the first workplace gender equality assessment tool tailored for the ASEAN market. It provides insights and actionable recommendations to PBCWE member companies, helping them understand gaps, opportunities, and strengths in their current strategies related to workplace gender equality. Additionally, it offers a guide for investing with a gender lens to increase capital deployment towards women-led and gender-forward businesses.
Ma. Aurora “Boots” Geotina-Garcia, PhilWEN Founding Chairperson and President and PBCWE Governing Council Chairperson, commended ING’s efforts stating, “Women’s contributions have always been championed by ING through its women-led employee resource group Lioness. This partnership is a testament to our collective pursuit of empowering people and organizations to embrace the principles of DEI, and to create equitable workplaces where all voices are heard, valued, and recognized.”
