PBCWE Announces Executive Leadership Transition

8 June 2026, Makati City, Philippines – We would like to share an important leadership transition at PBCWE.

After nearly a decade of inspiring leadership since the foundation of PBCWE, Executive Director Julia Abad will be stepping down from her role. Julia’s vision, dedication, and guidance have been instrumental in shaping PBCWE into a leading voice for Workplace Gender Equality (WGE), Women’s Economic Equality (WEE), and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) in the Philippines.

We extend our deepest gratitude for her invaluable contributions and steadfast commitment to advancing gender equality in the workplace and beyond.

As we mark this transition, we are pleased to announce the appointment of Reuben James “RJ” Barrete as Acting Executive Director.

RJ brings over a decade of leadership experience across the non-profit, public, and private sectors, advancing gender equality, women’s economic empowerment, and inclusive development.

He was recognized internationally as a Young Leader at the European Commission’s European Development Days in 2016, where he engaged with global policymakers and development leaders on the Sustainable Development Goals.

RJ currently serves as President of the Sinagtala Center for Women and Children in Conflict, supporting women and children in conflict-affected communities through economic empowerment and community-based programs.

At PBCWE, he has held senior leadership roles across program management, partnerships, and client engagement, positioning him well as Acting Executive Director as the business coalition continues to drive inclusive workplaces and equitable growth.

This leadership transition comes at a pivotal moment as PBCWE evolves its executive direction and embarks on becoming a social enterprise organization. This shift will further strengthen our ability to deliver sustainable, scalable, and impact-driven solutions that empower women in business and the workplace.

We remain committed to our mission and to working closely with all of you as we continue to advance WGE, WEE, and DEI in the country. We thank you for your continued support and partnership during this transition.
