JLL Philippines strengthens its commitment to Workplace Gender Equality through the Philippine Business Coalition for Women Empowerment

18 August 2021 – Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL) Philippines, a leading real estate services and consultancy firm, joins the Philippine Business Coalition for Women Empowerment (PBCWE) as one of its newest members in a virtual signing ceremony.

PBCWE was established in 2017 as an inaugural project of the Philippine Women’s Economic Network (PhilWEN), in partnership with Investing in Women, an initiative of the Australian Government. JLL Philippines joins the 15 member companies in leading efforts towards achieving large-scale organisational transformation through evidence-based strategies, creating knowledge on best practices in the workplace, communicating the benefits of empowering women in the workforce, and institutionalizing policies based on best practices.

“We are very proud to be part of PBCWE’s network of organizations that empower women in the workplace. JLL believes that a diverse and inclusive world is a better world, and so every day, we aim to celebrate their achievements and create allies among our colleagues so collectively, we can challenge gender bias, discrimination, and inequalities that they face in the workplace to help create an inclusive world,” said Philip Mareschal, JLL Philippines’ Head of Diversity and Inclusion.

“While the real estate industry has been dominated by men, we are now seeing a gradual movement to move away from traditional gender stereotypes by acknowledging the need for gender equality and empowerment. Committing to gender equality is one step, acting on it changes the rules of the game. We are proud to welcome JLL Philippines, a major player and an advocate of gender equality in the workplace, in our humble network,” said Ma. Aurora “Boots” Geotina-Garcia, PhilWEN Chair and PBCWE Co-Chair.

“JLL Philippines holds initiatives all year round to promote diversity and inclusion geared towards empowering everyone at JLL, regardless of their sexual orientations and identities, so they can reach their full potential,” said Mareschal.

Among the company’s initiatives is the #JLLWomenInspire campaign, which recognizes the inspiring women of JLL across the globe. JLL partnered with PBCWE for a webinar on workplace gender equality as part of its International Women’s Month celebration in March, and another webinar on inclusive leadership and understanding sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression (SOGIE) for its Pride celebration in June.

In 2021, JLL has been included in the Bloomberg Gender Equality Index (GEI) which recognises the performance and commitment of publicly-listed companies in the Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) Standards, specifically highlighting gender diversity, representation, and transparency. Bloomberg GEI measures and tracks gender equality across five pillars: female leadership and talent pipeline, equal pay and gender pay parity, inclusive culture, anti-sexual harassment measures, and pro-women brand.
